My Project

As a Speech Therapist working with special needs children, I have the privilege of supporting an incredible group of students. I am happy and proud of the work I do every single day, and that is because of my students. I love how unique their personalities and interests are, how gentle and kind their hearts are, and the special connection we build over the course of the school year. Most of my students face great challenges in communication, which often leads to frustration. Although they all communicate in their own way, whether it be through gestures, sounds, or words, it's my mission to help them find their voice and use it to connect with the world around them.

This iPad will allow me to provide my students with access to a variety of alternative and augmentative communication applications such as TouchChat, TD Snap, LAMP: WFL, Proloquo2go, and more.

These applications are critical tools for fostering effective and functional communication. These applications will help my students express their wants, needs, thoughts, and feelings more easily, therefore enhancing their social interaction and ability to engage in both academic and every-day conversations. These tools can help them participate more fully in class, build stronger relationships, and have more confidence.

My goal is to provide my students with the best possible resources to support their communication development, help them become more independent and confident in their ability to interact with their loved ones and with the world. These tools will not only enhance their learning experience but will also improve their quality of life, by giving them the power to express themselves and advocate for their needs. With the right tools, I believe my students can overcome any obstacle and reach their fullest potential.
