This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a coach and statistician for our high school football team, I witness firsthand how crucial mental health is to the well-being and performance of our athletes. Our players are passionate, hardworking, and dedicated, but like many teenagers, they often struggle with self-confidence and mental health challenges.

One key element that positively impacts my student athletes' mental health is the ability to see and understand their progress through film breakdowns and personal stats.

To support my athletes' mental health, I am requesting a laptop. This tool is essential for analyzing game film, tracking player statistics, and highlighting individual achievements. When players have access to their stats and see how their hard work translates into tangible progress, it boosts their morale and confidence, which directly improves their mental well-being.

The laptop will allow me to efficiently break down film and compile stats that the players can review. By watching themselves on film and seeing their highlights, my athletes gain a sense of pride and accomplishment. This acknowledgment fosters resilience and a growth mindset. It also helps them manage stress, as they feel recognized for their efforts. Furthermore, the stats allow them to set personal goals and measure their improvement over time, promoting a healthier, more focused mindset.

My players are resilient and driven, but they face unique challenges that can often weigh on their mental health. The ability to visualize their progress and reflect on their personal achievements through a laptop will provide them with a much-needed mental boost. They’ll not only see themselves as players but as individuals capable of constant improvement. This approach will help them build confidence, manage stress, and stay motivated.

This project is not just about stats or performance; it’s about nurturing my athletes' mental health and helping them realize their potential both on the field and in life.
