Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a group of fourth grade students who are highly enthusiastic and eager to learn something new every single day.

My students always try their best at everything and anything despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives.

My students live in an impoverished area of South Los Angeles. All of my students come from low-income families. We are a Title I school where one hundred percent of our students receive free meals. My students do not all have the same opportunities at home and thus need to be exposed to as many opportunities as possible at school.

My Project

What was your favorite school subject? Was it Math, Science, Social Studies, Writing, or Reading? Ours is Art. This year I am trying to combine our love for art with writing and reading. You are probably asking yourself how it can be accomplished. I want to Empower Students Through Art. I want my students to become book publishers. Yes, my 10 year-olds will soon be publishers. With the requested color pencils, mechanical pencils, white board erasers, markers, refrigerator magnets, and other supplies my students will be creating a book that will be published into a hard-cover book. My students will use the pencils for the writing part and to sketch the illustrations. The markers and color pencils will be used to give life to the illustrations. The white board materials will be used to illustrate the first idea since we can't afford to create and erase on our illustration pages.

With your kind donations, my students will have the art supplies that are needed to learn about writing and reading through an art lens.

My students love art, why not teach them about writing and reading through a fun subject such as art.
