This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students treasure their time at school and value their education. I teach at a Title I school in East Las Vegas. Our school is 100% Free and Reduced Lunch with 70% of our students being English Language Learners

My students are bright, motivated, and ready to read!

Many of our student population are struggling readers; students who often are do not have access to quality books at home. Power hour is an hour of time when I get to meet my students in small groups and really bridge gaps and accelerate their learning!

My Project

Power Hour is an important time of our school day. Students are able to work with their teacher in smaller groups, and complete independent work that contributes to their reading progress.

I want to empower my students by providing them with tools to help them focus during their reading centers!

Headphones will contribute to a calm classroom atmosphere and allow my students to focus and block out distractions during their iReady computer time. They will use dry erase boards to practice their spelling and phonics. The pop its will provide an alternate and engaging method to learn letter sounds and spelling words. Sheet protectors will help me organize their lessons for myself and an interventionist. Help me empower my students during their reading journey!
