My Students

My students love hands-on learning experiences, especially those they wouldn’t normally have an opportunity to participate in. The majority of my students come from low-income families where their experiences are limited so I strive to provide them in ways that are impacting and meaningful from which their knowledge base and skill set can continue to grow. My students are very curious and inquisitive! They enjoy coming to school to find out what they will learn next.

Their minds are growing into the future creative, critical thinking, problem solvers of our world.

I apply an activity, project, problem-based learning approach to my classroom to prepare them for their role in our society.

My Project

My students are naturally curious, innovative, and technologically skilled. The majority of my students are from demographics traditionally underrepresented in the area of STEM. I also have a unique blend of students that primarily are special education and gifted/talented.

I strive to create experiences for my students that are both relevant and meaningful while providing exposure to knowledge, skills, and resources otherwise unavailable to them.

With this project, I will let my students experience the full engineering design process! My students will assume an active role in their learning and engage in planning their project by brainstorming through sketches, then creating the project in a 3D digital model applying advance technological skills, and finally produce their model using the Flashforge 3D printer.

Modeling helps students to proceed with a very important step in the STEM design process which is to IMPROVE! Students will test their product and identify areas that could be improved to then be redesigned for the creation of a successful final product. The end result will be a class full of empowered engineers who are well equipped with many valuable skills to ready them for their future careers.
