My Project

I believe providing food in the classroom is crucial for sustaining students' energy and extending their attention spans, which are vital for effective learning. Many students, especially those who skip meals or lack proper nutrition during school hours, struggle to stay focused and engaged in their studies.

Nutritious snacks can bridge this gap, ensuring that all students have the physical energy needed to concentrate on their work and participate fully in class.

A calculator is an essential tool for my Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Honors Advanced Algebra 2 students, as it allows them to not only tackle calculation quickly and efficiently, but also explore higher-level mathematical concepts, and complex equations, and focus on problem-solving rather than manual computation. Hence, when students have to wait for a calculator, it disrupts their focus and adds unnecessary stress, making it harder for them to perform to the best of their abilities. By providing access to calculators, we ensure that all students can fully engage with the curriculum, enhancing their understanding and preparing them for future success in mathematics.

My students are incredibly motivated to learn, driven by a genuine curiosity and desire to succeed in their studies. They come to class eager to explore new concepts and challenge themselves, but the lack of adequate supplies and nutrition could be a significant barrier to their success. Without essential tools like calculators and proper nutrition, their ability to fully engage with the material and sustain their focus is compromised.
