Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A challenge I encounter as a teacher and coach is helping students achieve their potential and improve their self-esteem. This exists particularly in my female students. I've found sports to be quite helpful and thus jumped at the opportunity to start our inaugural Girls Flag Football team five years ago!

We're a large high school in Miami-Dade County (one of the largest counties in the nation) with a multi-cultural 97% minority population.

In that time our needs as a program have grown and the equipment/uniform needs have as well. The girls who have come out range from grades 9 to 12, multi-sport athletes to novices, advanced academics to low-performing students, with a wide range of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting are essential for my players to continue to grow as athletes and as a program in this new sport for girls athletics! They are already needed and replacing the older items which over the years have deteriorated or are in bad shape due to usage. Practice vests, cones, footballs, and among the other equipment will be implemented from Day 1 and throughout the rest of their time here.

The donations to this project will help to improve my athletes day to day training and overall team success.

Since the inception of our Flag Football program, the enthusiasm and self-confidence boosts have been immeasurable. Help be a part of the continued success. Thanks!
