This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As part of our hands-on learning approach in Marine Science, I provide my high school students with dissection tools for experiments to enhance their understanding of anatomy and physiology. These tools are used under strict safety guidelines and supervision to ensure a responsible educational experience. Dissections offer a valuable opportunity for students to develop critical thinking, observation skills, and a deeper appreciation for marine life, structures, and functions within them.

The dissection tools I’m requesting will provide my students with hands-on experience in marine science, allowing them to explore anatomy and physiology in a way that textbooks simply can’t replicate.

By working with real specimens, they will develop critical thinking skills, fine motor skills, and a deeper appreciation for marine biodiversity.

My goal for this project is to create an engaging, inquiry-based learning environment where students can connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. Through dissections, they will gain a better understanding of marine ecosystems, species adaptations, and the impact of environmental changes on aquatic life.

What makes my students special is their curiosity and enthusiasm for science. They are eager to learn through exploration and providing them with the right tools will fuel their passion for discovery. Many of them have never had the opportunity to engage in hands-on dissections, and this experience will inspire them to pursue careers in science, conservation, and beyond.
