This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Social-emotional learning is crucial for high school freshmen as it fosters self-awareness, resilience, and relationship skills, helping them navigate challenges, build connections, and succeed academically and personally during this transitional stage. I plan to use the various art supplies and white boards to give students a space to express their emotions through art. Art supports social-emotional learning by providing a creative outlet for self-expression, encouraging reflection, enhancing emotional awareness, and fostering empathy through collaboration, ultimately helping students process feelings and build connections. I plan to use the fidget toys and chair bands to promote self regulation so that all students can find an outlet for channeling excess energy and manage anxiety. This helps them focus better, enhances their engagement, and encourages emotional awareness, empowering their social-emotional development. By providing these tools, we create a more inclusive environment where students can express themselves, leading to improved behavior and positive interactions with peers.
