Help Mrs. Watkins

We are a school in Eastern North Carolina that has experienced first hand tragedies similar to the people in the track of Katrina. Being a economically deprived area with many families depending on the land for their income we know what it's all about when tragic weather comes through your area. In the last 8 to 10 years we have had four category 3-4 hurricanes, one resulting in mass flooding. Most of our students were without homes or possessions of any kind, some are still displaced, just like the victims of Katrina. We also had a tornado come through about 1/2 mile from our school 2 years ago. Families in that area lost everything some even their lives. Our students would like to help the victims of Katrina but they have very little for themselves. When I shared the idea of using Donors Choose to supply the gift and we supply the concern, love and empathy that the victims need the students became very excited. Donors Choose wasn't around in NC when we were hit by hurricanes and tornado's. We received help from many places and our students would like to do all they can to provide for others that have similar needs. With the help of Donors Choose we can give back to others the way others gave to us.
