My Project

What I Love About My Students:

My third graders are an extraordinary group, full of curiosity, empathy, and eagerness to engage with the world.

They naturally help others and show kindness daily. Their openness to new experiences makes them special and deserving of resources to deepen their understanding of compassion.

How Each Resource Will Help Them Learn:

The specific items I am requesting for our compassion club reading and writing center include a rug, wobble chairs, and a listening center. These resources are essential for creating an engaging and supportive learning environment:

Rug: Provides a comfortable space for students to gather, read, and discuss, fostering a sense of togetherness and encouraging conversations about the stories they read, helping them see the world through the characters' eyes.

Wobble Chairs: Offer flexible seating that allows movement, promoting focus during reading and writing activities. This dynamic environment helps students concentrate and absorb the material.

Listening Center: Equipped with audiobooks and headphones, it allows students to hear stories about compassion and empathy, helping them understand others' experiences and think about ways to alleviate suffering.

Develop Empathy: Through reading, writing, and listening to stories about compassion, students will learn to see the world through others' eyes.

Promote Altruism: Engaging with narratives that emphasize kindness will inspire students to work toward alleviating suffering in their community and beyond.

Measure Compassionate Growth: Success will be measured by students’ ability to articulate their understanding of compassion, demonstrate empathy, and actively participate in related activities.

My students are special due to their innate kindness and eagerness to make a positive impact. They are bright, curious, and compassionate, with diverse backgrounds that enrich our classroom community. These resources will help them grow emotionally and intellectually, learning valuable lessons about empathy and compassion that will stay with them throughout their lives.
