Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an English as a New Language Teacher, I have the privilege of meeting and teaching students from all around the world. Many of my students come from Spanish speaking countries like Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, and Ecuador. But I also have had students from Yemen, Russia, Kazakhstan, Haiti and Senegal. This means that in my class is full of diversity as well as different immigration experiences.

That is why I am asking for picture books that speak about migrant children, refugee / asylum-seeking students and undocumented students.

These books will help us start the learning journey of hope and empathy for one another.

In turn, I hope my students will be inspired to share their stories and use it as a teaching tool so that their peers can also learn and understand the hardships they have faced.
