Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The group of students that I have the honor of working with are very unique and talented academically. Our student body takes pride in having a nurturing learning environment, while they achieve higher education accomplishments. School for Advanced Studies students are highly motivated and strive for excellence. Given the academic pressure and expectations our students are under, I would like to create de-stressing environments and spaces for them. Items like the Wooden Blocks, Magnetic Fidgets and Modeling Clay Kit will help students carve out time to de-stress while in school and meeting with them for counseling sessions. In addition, Mindfulness practices have been proven to decrease stress so I believe the Mindfulness talk cards will evoke meaningful conversations and provide them will tools that will enhance their emotional and social well-being. My goal is to implement innovative ways to reach our students. Lastly, while conducting classroom presentations, I would also like to implement psychoeducational resources to our students. The Interpersonal Skill Card game will also promote the concept of emotional management, importance of empathy and understanding anger. If granted these items, I ensure our students be provided with many resources that will benefit them beyond their academic studies.
