This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am an English, special education, and Adult TESOL teacher currently teaching 10th-grade ELA and AP African American studies. My 10th, 11th, and 12th graders are college-bound inner-city youth from the South Bronx. They love their school and their community. They are social justice warriors in the making and are starting to recognize their academic and socio-emotional needs and the importance of advocacy for themselves and others

The stuffed animals for emotional support will help students with their feelings of alienation, anxiety, stress, and trauma or just as a pick me up when they are having a bad day which has been prevalent since the pandemic.

My classroom has four stuffed animals currently that 100+ students share, take care of, and love on. My hope, with your help, is to give them more. Their mental health is of utmost importance since many have had adverse experiences.
