My Project

Students whom struggle with emotional regulation and sensory overload can quickly become over stimulated and enter into a state of fight or flight. When this happens they are not able to learn or connect with their peers, and often cannot remain safe.

These specially designed sensory lights will given them a focus point for regulation and enable them to quickly calm down and make safe choices.

This project will provide students with two special places and opportunities to select and process sensory information while choosing appropriate coping skills. The movement mixed with the low lights allow students to move past their current situation and practice deep breathing. It provides them a place to return and practice time after time. Allowing the muscle memory of their brains to rapidly find that calm state to learn.
