My Students

As a fairly new educator, I have had the pleasure of working with students in grades 3-5 self-contained classroom. This will be my first year teaching such young scholars in grade k-2. Consequently, even during this time I want to create a grand learning space with as much possible learning experiences.

My students are K-2nd graders in a Title 1 school in Brooklyn, New York.

Over 70% of our students receiving are free school lunch. Nonetheless, they are a spirited and very energetic bunch. My classroom will consist of students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities developmental and communicative delays.

Nevertheless, I am trying to meet their learning needs by creating a space that provides the best educational experiences and social distancing. I believe students with special needs require an educational space with much differentiated instruction and the essential tools required to target their learning styles.

My Project

These materials are a mixture of resources that my students will be able to use when they return to the classroom to be socially distant. I want them to have the opportunity to use these materials that are their own without worrying about sharing.

I requested the materials to make my classroom feel bright and welcoming since this will be a fun and energetic place away from home.

It was important for me to ask for these materials. For example, room divider for social distancing, kurve rocker for individual sitting and seat sack for each individual student and hand sanitizer to keep small hands clean especially during this time of COVID crisis.
