This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These Chromebooks will be a wonderful addition to our science classroom. It will allow my English as a New Language (ENL) students to dive deeper into the different topics of living environment by creating a multilingual blended learning classroom. I am hoping to provide my students with opportunities to access materials in their home language. This project will support my students in learning the science content they need and the English language at the same time.

As the school year continues, I want to provide my students with the tools they need in order to be successful in a 21st century learning environment.

My students need these Chromebooks in order to access the many wonderful EdTech applications that have emerged in recent years. Unfortunately, while we currently have a shared laptop cart for the entire grade, it isn't always available to our English language learners and when it is, there are not enough laptops for the entire class.

With these Chromebooks, we will be able to access science content in the different languages that my students speak. We will be able to watch scientific videos, use translation software when needed, read articles, research the topics we are studying in a language of their choice, and work on the digital skills needed today and in the future. Having individual Chromebooks will allow them to work at their own pace, take more control of their learning, and grow as productive individuals inside and beyond the classroom.
