Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As the school Intervention Support Coordinator I provide reading support to students from Kindergarten all the way up to 5th grade. As my early readers begin blending CVC words we will be moving on to Blends and Digraphs which is why we will need the Blends and Digraphs tubs to complete the letter set I have already. They are also reading level A books, but having a copy for each member in my group as we read together will be much easier for instruction and feedback, as well as following along. They will really love the Littler Readers complete library set. We are also working on sight words which is why I can use the laminating machine to make them last longer and have them ready for a new group or new year and not have to print or write new flash cards each time. I will hole punch the laminated cards with the hole puncher and put them on a ring so that the students can keep them together and not lose them. I organize all their assessments and work packets in a folder, but the folders the school provides are paper and get torn up after a few weeks. We could use plastic folders to keep our material organized and well kept. I also send home a lot of letters for the student success progress team meetings to parents which I would like to place in envelops instead of stapling the meeting invitation in half. Finally, which classroom doesn't need a heavy duty pencil sharpener? I do not have one and have only used hand held sharpeners, which the kids can spend too long sharpening or the pencil point ends up breaking inside and jamming it, plus electric has all sizes!
