Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have personally needed to change into a different pair of pants at school. This is a horrifying experience. Whether the pants rip, get stained, or some other emergency, thank goodness that I have a spare pair in my car.

We have young ladies who need emergency pants on a regular basis; with a school of over 3,000 young people, someone always needs another pair of pants.

I have personally gone to thrift stores and bought lots of pants and today we needed another pair and I just found out our nurse didn't have any left.

Please help us get emergency black leggings for our young people. This is just a basic necessity and we do not want these young ladies to go back home because of pants. And having them assures us that we keep our young ladies in school.

Some of them wash them and bring them back for someone else to use. Others, I see wearing them again and again and again. Thank you for helping us to support our students. With a population of students where more than 50% are below the poverty level, qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, sometimes basic needs can't be covered at home. Both parents are working and they still struggle. With many immigrant families, our inclusive environment wants to make sure our students thrive.

You truly are a blessing to me and my students. We are so grateful for your support and for your generosity. My students will remember feeling safe and cared for at school, longer than Pythagorean's theorem or the words in the Gettysburg Address. Thank you for being our hero today.
