My Students

I once read that, "curiosity is the compass that leads us to our passions." For many of my students that passion is conservation and wildlife. They are hungry to learn more about the world around them and are full of questions.

My students are in high school ranging in all grades.

They attend a school in the South Bronx that has a focus in wildlife conservation. Many of our students come to us wanting to be vets but they soon learn of all the different wildlife and conservation related careers within the world. My students have a curiosity that rivals most as many of them have never left the city and have not had the opportunities to explore in nature. Due to this I do my best to bring nature to them as much as possible.

My Project

Within my classroom this requested incubator will become a huge asset. However this tool will not only allow us to study embryology first hand in the classroom but it will also aid in teaching environmental compassion on a school wide level. Within the classroom we will be able to carefully candle the eggs to observe the embryo growth. The students in the class will also keep up a bulletin board so that the rest of the school can be alerted to their project.

In donating to this project you would be greatly impacting my classroom.

In incubating eggs my students will experience nature first hand. This experience will teach them many things about not only embryology or that the yolk of an egg is not a baby but instead it is what the baby eats, but it will also serve as a stepping stone towards environmental compassion. Hearing about animals is one thing, but raising it first hand brings life into a whole new perspective.
