Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students love any opportunity to learn something new! Sometimes learning just has to be fun as well as making some great memories. We introduced our students to sustainable fashion and taught basic, rudimentary sewing and embroidery last year. After returning back to school from COVID-19, we wanted to integrate a life-long skill with a social-emotional component.

Now we are ready to take our students to a whole other level of new and challenging skills.

The students will continue to expand on their sewing and become more disciplined in creating a finished product that looks professional. They will refine their embroidery skills and design their own pattern.

So much math is involved with this creative, hands-on enrichment program! The students often don't realize we are working on fractions, area, geometry, and counting. Their focus is on their finished product that they want to show off to their families. Help give them a life-long and purposeful talent. Sometimes the best learning moments happen when you don't realize it!
