My Students

My students attend school in the most diverse county in the United States, and their identities reflect this. Not only do the students represent diverse ethnicities, but also diverse economic status, gender identities, and orientation. The students are part of a student lead club, SAFE (Students Advocating For Equality). SAFE Club was started by students who felt marginalized. Instead of hiding in the shadows of the building, they started a club to discuss their differences and more importantly, their similarities.

My Project

The SAFE Club is looking to bring building unity to the forefront of our diverse student population. The students want to highlight their differences, while reminding each other that they also are the same in many ways.

Students plan on using the space they create as a place they can discuss different cultural aspects such as shared histories, current events, values, holidays, traditions and more.

In order to do this, the students would like to add flag posts to the hallway outside the student cafeteria. The flags will accentuate the diverse backgrounds of our student population. Flags have already been purchased, but we need a way to display them. Your contribution will help our students achieve their goal. Let's bring in the new year with hope and unity.
