Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you love Math? I do and I want the same for my students! I teach a wonderful group of students at a Title I school. Over 67% of the students are Hispanic and learning the English language.

My students love to learn and want to be successful, especially in Math.

Due to the language barrier and other socioeconomic factors, my students are not currently working on their grade level. They do not have the necessary prior knowledge or materials at home and have fallen behind their peers in Mathematics. Many of them are not enthusiastic about learning Math because its overwhelming for them. It is hard for them to learn material on their grade level because they lack the basic skills needed.

My Project

Number sense is the key to learning Math; and my students need additional materials to help develop their number sense. The Number Talk Daily activities for grades 2 and 3 will be an excellent resource to build mental math skills. These activities will provide the students opportunities to focus on developing their number sense ability by using strategies to solve a variety of real life problems. The Beat the Clock multiplication game and the Addition/Subtraction Fact game will provide the students with fun opportunities to strengthen their knowledge of the basic facts. I believe learning should be fun, and these games will allow the students to have fun while learning. The office supplies, such as the folders, dry erase markers, and laminating pouches, will provide the students with materials to create their Data Notebooks. These notebooks will include all of their data and the students can track their own growth in Math. By using Data Notebooks, the students can set their own personal math goals.

Please consider donating to this project!

My goal is for my students to be successful in Math and love it as much as I do! My students need these materials to strengthen their Number sense. Many of them do not have the confidence in themselves regarding Math, and I believe that these additional resources will help their confidence grow!
