Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

On March 13, my district had decided to close campus for two weeks due to the pandemic. I had never imagine this would had been the last time I would see my students or see each other again. Once we launched Distance Learning, I was skeptical yet optimistic. My goal was to provide an engaging, challenging, and enjoyable experience via Zoom with the goal that learning will continue. I assigned reading, math, and science online activities as well as taught new material using google slides or other helpful online platforms. I conducted 45 minutes of zoom classes three times a week. As a mother of a third grader, I was aware of how challenging it was for all educators to continue teaching differently as now we are in our homes and lack resources.

My students are loving and caring students who come from low socio economic backgrounds.

Thankfully, my district provided online resources such as a chrome book, to students whom might not have electronic devices. More than half of my students borrowed a device to continue learning. My students and I have gone through this distance learning journey together. Like mentioned before, we were actively engaging in various websites.

My Project

Hello, thank you in advance and for you support!. This would be my third year teaching and have experienced a new type of teaching- virtual teaching or virtual learning. I would begin my third year teaching this fall with a 4th and 5th grade combination class.

The resources that you will help with, not only will aid during these unprecedented times, but I will also able to use the tools in the future when classes resume like the good old days.

I will be working from home and need some tools in order to continue teaching my students. My goal is to use the easel as a chalkboard during Zoom classes. I will focus on writing, math, and other subjects. The reason why I picked this easel is because I loved how one side is a white board yet the opposite side has permanent writing lines, where I can focus on writing skills. I had previously used poster board and found my self using plenty of it. This year I would like to be more resourceful and help reduce trash. In addition, I will use the magnetic objective resource to display the learning objectives, here is were I display what they will learn on each subject, for example, in math I will write something like " I can add fractions with like denominators". I like to demonstrate what each standard or objective of the day is to allow students to know and understand what the focus of the lesson is.
