Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a diverse group of students that are English Language Learners. My students come from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. My students are learning to speak, read, write and comprehend the English language and are doing so with a smile. They are beyond special because they are part of an ever-evolving neighborhood in the South Bronx persevering through daily obstacles. Many of my students speak Spanish and serve as translators in their home. Some of my students have mild to moderate special needs and are thriving while learning English. It amazes me how they enter the school every morning willing and excited to learn they are truly my inspiration.

I encourage my students to build each other up and respect each other as individuals, motivating them to reach their full potential in all areas of their life, while showing them kindness really goes a long way.

My Project

2020/2021 school year here we come! The materials will give my students a basic start to the school year with pens, pencil and baggies to keep things organized and safe. Because I will be providing instruction by traveling to and from different spaces (my classroom and others) the materials will help me transition from class to class and offer students resources they need to understand and complete tasks at hand. Students will be able to take material home as needed and instruction lesson and activities will be uploaded to support learning remotely.
