Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I provide speech and language therapy to amazing, hard-working elementary school students with speech and/or language disabilities. Some of my students have co-occurring disabilities (e.g., autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, etc).

My students love learning!

These students benefit from a multi-sensory approach, which means they learn best when lessons involve engaging more than one sense at a time.

They are also more engaged when there is a mix of visual, auditory and kinesthetic input throughout the lesson. It is important to use these children's strengths to help them reach their full potential.

My Project

I would like to incorporate iPad technology into my speech and language therapy sessions. There are many online resources and applications that can be used as a supplement to traditional methodologies to help improve the success rates of my students. These tools will be used to help my students reach their goals and be able to communicate and read as proficiently as their peers.

It has been found that most students with speech/language disabilities succeed when technology is a part of their multi-sensory treatment/lesson plan.
