Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At-Home Learning through e-Classrooms and a Virtual Google Meets 90 mins each class all day. It has hit these young students, and me quite a bit differently than others dealing with COVID 19. As I approach the 2nd Semester of Distant Virtual at Home Learning and Working at a G.L.O.B.A.L. school, I need to provide these young developing minds with all the resources they should have. Unfortunately, they still do not have full access, with testing just around the corner.

My students are 99% English language learners and all receive Free lunch.

They took their exams in their 1st language and now everything is in English and they are struggling readers that are compassionate and caring. Just issuing each a personal copy of Hidden Figures from another project had their eyes illuminated with excitement.

They are remaining at home to ensure their safety and longevity of life while trying to be educated through this pandemic at a crucial year of life 7th-grade. The Summer Programs for the district offered so much for the students, yet there has been zero support at all for the materials to be available to the students at home and allow them to achieve success.

My Project

This project is created to help my Virtual at-home learners feel safe and secure as they enter campus on their assigned testing days. We are going from 100 students daily to 300 in each testing grade level and many grade levels on the same day.

We have been out of mask and face shields for those that are on campus for several months and I have been purchasing for students I see with my own money to ensure my own medical safety and security.

Now that ALL of the 7th graders are returning without face shields and NO PPE is being issued to teachers for the arrival of students that will be coming for testing I feel that it is my duty to ensure the students feel safe entry and testing on campus in full classrooms for no less than 4 hours. We need to separate their personal belongings to prevent cross-contamination and we need to clean ALL of the surfaces before, during, and after each testing session.
