This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Despite living in the city's second densest neighborhood, my students come to school with smiles on their faces ready to get down to the business of creating, reading, writing, and problem solving.

My students are eager to learn and motivated to make the world a better place.

They are truly a special group that work collaboratively and independently to meet their academic and personal goals. They aren't scared of challenges and they know the meaning of "productive struggle." Watch out world!

My Project

In our Visual Arts Magnet we study art on a daily basis. We look at art and discuss it. We create art and display it. And we read about art and artists during Reader's Workshop and Read Aloud time.

My students can't get enough art information!

I have chosen a fantastic set of books in this project that my students will love. These particular books help me teach the Elements of Art. The books will help my students learn about how artists use the Elements such as, Lines and Color, in their artwork. It will also help them have a firmer understanding of the Elements so they can think of how they will use them in their own artwork.

I have found that one of the most effective ways to help my students learn is through high-quality children's literature. No matter how "antsy" a student is or how hard their day has been, they are always 100% engaged when I read them a story. These books will be an excellent addition to our growing collection.
