Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever tried to make a circuit with just a battery, wire and bulb? It can be done, but little fingers get burnt in the process. Fourth grade is the only time my students get to experience electricity and having proper materials makes this a much more positive experience.

I teach fourth grade in a project improvement school.

The majority of the students are English Language Learners who need to be exposed to language through multiple disciplines. The area in which I teach is very low on the economic scale. The students love Science. It motivates them and they always want to know more. Hands-on science is such a high motivator to get students talking, learning new language and vocabulary in a safe environment.

My Project

The Lakeshore Electricity Lab provides students with the materials they need to explore circuits and electricity in a safe way. Without bulb and battery holders fingers sometimes get burned. Also it helps cut down on the frustration level so students can explore more deeply. These materials will provide more opportunities for learning in a safe environment for fourth graders.

Fourth grade is the only opportunity for children to really explore electricity in elementary school.

It is important for them to have this opportunity and having enough of the proper tools assures that it will happen. Thank you for your support!
