My Students

Every morning my students rush into my classroom and check the WHITEboard for the daily agenda. The most delighted squeals erupt when they see "science experiment" listed in the science time block. Unfortunately, there are far too few days that students complete hands on experiments in my classroom.

My students are scholars with a love for learning.

My students come from Los Angeles. Our school is a Title I low income school. Though many of my students and their families struggle they still come to school ready to learn and excited about their day in our classroom.

My Project

My students will use the science kits I have requested to get hands on experience with electricity and magnets. The students will be able to explore the subjects themselves and see what make a successful or not so successful circuit first hand. They will see with their own eyes what attract and repel mean. Abstract science concepts will be transformed from a textbook picture to a real life experience.

These science kits will give every student in my class to experience science as more than a textbook.

It will allow my students to experience first hand how science works. It will allow them to think critically and work together to experience how wonderful and intriguing science can really be.
