ELA Essentials for Reading Success

Help me give my students the best learning opportunities possible by supplying our classroom with a printer and ink. Printers are essential in providing work, awards, articles, and a plethora of learning materials that will enhance learning.

My Project

Teaching students to read is such an awesome experience, especially when the environment and community calls for a substantial need. I teach in one of the poorest counties in my state. It is a rural school system that includes more than 65% student diversity, mostly Native Americans, African Americans and Bi-racial students. 93% of our student population receive free & reduced meals. Illiteracy is a huge problem in our area and education is the answer.

I try to provide as many resources as possible to enrich the literacy of my student’s education.

The school system I work in doesn’t provide a printer for my classroom, which effects myself and my students. I feel like if my students and I were provided with a printer, it would make learning to read, learning grammar, and the pragmatics of the English Language much more fun and engaging. Also, now more than ever, technology provides a crucial part in our world. A printer would allow my students to print and display stories and documents they create. Displaying their wonderful projects not only aids in learning, but creates pride in their hard work.

As public education funding in our state and country continues to decline, I find it more difficult to provide what my students need in order to have the best possible learning environment they deserve. You know the saying “it takes a village to raise a child”, it also takes a village to educate a child in our world today. Anything we receive would be greatly appreciated.
