Our students benefit from a multi-sensory approach to help them access their education. Our classroom family is made up of students with severe/profound intellectual disabilities and medical complexities. We use hands-on materials that stimulate the kids' sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell.
In the spring we will begin a multi-sensory life cycle science unit.
I would like to give my students an opportunity to observe the real life-cycle as we hatch chick eggs in our own classroom! Seeing this process will be so engaging for the students. Having that hands-on experience will be embedded into their memory for years to come.
Doing this would also provide a great opportunity for our general education peers to come in and observe along with us. This benefits all students as we continue to build impactful social relationships.
