My Project

In the past I have used this book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, to help students gain an understanding and develop skills to become more effective at school and in life. My current school does not have any copies of this book.

This book does a phenomenal job at helping teens of all ages identify areas in their lives that need improvement and growth.

Not only does it identify these areas but it explains how improving their thought processes and daily routines can help them achieve their goals both in school and in their personal lives. I simply cannot sing the praises of this book enough because in the past years when I have taught this book I see my students becoming engaged in reading the book and I love watching them get excited in making lifestyle changes to reach their goals. My goal is to get a class set of these books for my new school and a couple of copies written in Spanish for students who are more comfortable in that language. I will use these resources as I have in the past at other schools to guide the students through reading this book and applying it to their lives. I enjoy reading the early chapters with them as we create illustrations for better understanding. In the later chapters the students enjoy working in groups to read and present their chapter to the class.

I cannot wait to work through this book with students at my new school. This student body wants so badly to make improvements to their lives but they simply have not been taught the skills to do so. This book will be the missing link for them to connect goals to successes. This book helps teens grow into better students and more importantly, better people.
