Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am fortunate to teach science to a diverse group of students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. I also teach Information Technology (Robotics I) which my students love. Not only do I love to engage students with weekly hands-on science activities, but I'm obsessed with finding new ways to incorporate digital media into the classroom. I find that my students are highly interested in projects that involve problem-solving through research and technology. It is amazing to see just how quickly students learn to love science and have fun.

My Project

This year half of my students were online and the other half physically in class. We have all transitions to less paper and more technology-based assignments, projects, and labs. My students have shown to improve their academic performance when I grade and provide feedback promptly.

In order to provide my students with effective feedback on technological science platforms, I plan to use my iPad and Apple Pencil to provide immediate individualized feedback to students' work submissions.

There are PD's on Digital Convergence and Discovery Education in my district that will help me maximize technology and science in the classroom. I plan to apply what I learn with my students who collaborate on group science projects using Microsoft OneNote. I believe this will increase students' motivation and participation in their science projects by giving individualized help in real time. Having an iPad, AirPods and Apple pencil will facilitate my ability to attend such trainings and apply it in collaborative group science projects.
