Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently provide speech and language services in a low socioeconomic neighborhood. My school is a Title I school. Many of my students have limited language learning opportunities which negatively affects their ability to express themselves effectively. I see students individually and in small groups daily. My students learn strategies to help them access their classroom curriculum independently.

As a speech therapist I would like to continue professional learning to provide evidence based therapy to maximize my students' success.

I also want my students to have the materials that they need to be motivated to achieve their goals.

My Project

The books that I am requesting are evidence-based. The recommended activities in these books are supported by science and have proven to be successful. I would like to have access to the most current resources to address my students’ needs. The materials will also allow me to structure group and individual sessions in a more individualized manner to increase student success. Students will also have additional visual support to provide the necessary scaffolds to minimize frustration.

Also, students need to be engaged and motivated in order to to learn the strategies required for independent learning.

The additional materials have been chosen to keep students motivated and engaged as they work towards becoming effective communicators!
