Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in Elmhurst, New York. It opened its doors in September 2013. My students come from all over the world. Most of them come with no English skills, but with an enormous desire to learn and build a better future for themselves and their families.

The most difficult struggle out of this is that most of the students live in the country with their guardians, one of the parents, or rarely both parents.

Living here without parents means that besides the struggle of learning another language, there will be financial struggle as well. My students care about their education, but they struggle with making it through the day barely eating what the school provides for them.

They love to learn and explore what the world offers for them. This project will help cover a portion of the cost to go to Washington, D.C. to visit the National Museum of Natural History, Marian Koshland Science Museum, National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution and many more. Most of my students have not been beyond their neighborhood community and I would love to create this opportunity for them. Let's offer our new generation more access to new knowledge and create

My Project

This trip is once in a lifetime opportunity for my students. The visit to the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum is one of the top science related museums where students will enjoy a variety of hands-on-activities and learn about a wide range of science and technology subjects ranging from geology to human evolution.

The Marian Koshland Science Museum is a perfect fit for my students, offering interactive exhibits and hands-on activities.

Students will learn about the causes of climate change, explore how the brain works, learn why some light bulbs are more efficient than others, etc.

These and many more experiences during our trip will expand my students' horizons to experience further application of what they will learn in Government and Science about climate change.
