My Students

I teach at a title one school in South Florida where many of our students come from low income households. My population includes students who speak English as a second language, students with learning disabilities, students with gifted qualities, and those that are a combination of the three. One thing they all have in common is their desire to learn and be their best self. My goal as a teacher is to help them find their mathematical strengths and hone in on them.

My Project

Most people do not get the opportunity to experience first hand what medieval life was like. Our team is excited to offer this to our students; however many of our students come from poverty and will struggle to cover costs. Our destination is 2 hours away so the transportation costs are hefty and these are in addition to the admission fee. We are hoping to raise money to offset costs. Students will have a chance to enhance their science and social studies skills while at the same time being able to immerse themselves in the medieval culture. Our trip will include a tour of a medieval village and museum as well as a 90 minute meal and entertainment experience including jousting, sword fights, and royalty.
