My students need one Acer Aspire R 15 Convertible Laptop, mouse, and laptop sleeve for students with special needs (dyslexic, students with a fractured arm or finger, etc.).
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from a variety of different economic and social backgrounds. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in Doral.
Most of my students come from Hispanic immigrants who came to the United States for political, economic, and social reasons.
I have a considerable number of students from Venezuela who came to the country recently due to the crisis that is taking place in the country. In addition, there are also some Puerto Rican students who have had to leave their country after the hurricane Irma.
We share all their experience and cultural background in the classroom and try to make them feel confident and proud of their language and roots.
My Project
I need one convertible laptop, to enhance learning opportunities for the students with special needs. Learning with the Amazon Acer laptop and accessories will provide some of my students to be on the same page as their peers. I have several AP Spanish Language along with Spanish 2 and Honors classes of about 35 high school students. One of the AP test sections is writing, which is the one the students most struggle with. We practice that skill daily. I have some students who can not practice in class since they have had an arm surgery and other special needs.
Through this device, those students will be able to practice the not only the writing skill on the computer but also complete online activities for the rest of the skills: reading, listening, and speaking (listening to written texts instead of reading, interactive grammar activities instead of the ones from the book, etc.) The use of the Amazon Acer convertible laptop will be a useful learning tool that will help every student practice no matter what special situation they may have.
