My Students

This is my 5th year as educator and my second year as a 6th grade english teacher. My students are mostly low-income students who live in the East New York area of Brooklyn. Understanding that boys learn differently than girls is one of the biggest discoveries in being able to educate them. Boys are full of energy and love working with their hands. While girls are expressive and love to write. Now how do I encourage my boys to want to read and write as much as the girls do? Boys tend to need extra help with being organized. They are visual learners and often times have to hear instructions more than once but that's what makes them so great. Knowing this I am trying to make sure that I reach every learning type in my classroom by having the right materials for both the girls and boys. I am trying to foster live long learners. To do so i will need some help some you guys.

My Project

My students will benefit from these items by being able to focus solely on their work rather than worrying about if they have all the right materials. The bins will help to make the library more appealing and hopefully foster life long readers. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time. The table organizers will help with keeping the students engaged because all of their basic necessities will be just finger tips away. All of these tools will allow my students to strive academically no matter their social economic status. Given everyone a fair chance at succeeding.
