My students need a Lot of Dots rug for a place to sit where they can learn and develop friendships.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Antin's classroom raised $543
This project is fully funded
My Students
Everyday we have morning meeting. My students gather and share their feelings and experiences from the day before. The rug is a great place to get together, learn mini-lessons, read books, play games, tell stories, read quietly and socialize.
I have a kindergarten class of 25 students.
They are one of the six kindergarten classes in our school of over 1,000 students. My students are extremely eager to learn, they are inquisitive, and they love reading in the library area. The library area is where the classroom rug is located. The rug I have from a few years ago is not in the best of shape. Unfortunately school budgets are tight and new rugs cannot be purchased at this time. I want to continue to foster my students' love of reading and provide students with a place to play
My Project
My Students will be sitting on the Lot of Dots rug during mini-lessons taught by myself and other teachers that come into the classroom. During center time, students will engage in floor games they can play on the rug, instead of on the floor. Our classroom library is located right near the rug, so students can sit and read in a comfortable area. They can read independently or partner read. The rug will provide a place for students to view the Smartboard.
Donations will help fund the rug which will encourage my students to want to come to the rug and read.
With a new rug, my students will be excited to come to morning meeting and rug time activities. The rug will encourage social interactions between students and form bonds and friendships.
