My Project

My students are a part of a 1:1 technology initiative at our amazing school, and in order to access the digital content of the classroom, students need additional chargers to charge their computers during class time in order to fully engage. When students come to class without a charger and/or an uncharged computer, they are unable to gain access to our collaborative projects that require students to engage in online research, accommodations such as speech-to-text/text-to-speech, and participate effectively in group work through digital platforms. I have also requested additional computers for students who do not have theirs in class and to minimize the disruption of not having their technology device during class. When they have the opportunity to utilize a device during class when they do not have theirs (if it's broken, lost, etc), we can still give them the means to engage fully in the classroom digital activities. While students are learning, we are trying to help them identify ways to manage their attention. We are trying to encourage students to color/draw as a means of mindfulness as they learn in the classroom or when they need a brain break. This SEL piece is essential in their self-awareness and development as well-equipped individuals.
