Educating Students on Drug and Alcohol Prevention through Simulations

Help me give my students a program that uses simulations, including intoxication goggles and hopefully Nintendo Switch driving games, to educate high school students about the dangers of drug and alcohol use.

My Project

This grant will fund a dynamic educational program aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug and alcohol use among high school students. The program will use cutting-edge simulations to engage students in understanding the real-world consequences of substance abuse. By incorporating both intoxication goggles and Nintendo Switch driving simulations, students will experience firsthand the impaired perception and decision-making that come with being under the influence.

The intoxication goggles will simulate the visual and physical effects of being intoxicated, allowing students to participate in various activities, such as walking and completing basic tasks, to see how substances impact coordination and focus.

Additionally, using Nintendo Switch simulations, students will navigate virtual driving scenarios while experiencing the challenges of impaired driving. These activities will give students a safe, controlled environment to recognize the dangers of driving under the influence and help them make informed decisions in real-life situations.

The program will not only provide experiential learning but also foster open discussions about the social, legal, and health-related consequences of drug and alcohol abuse. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the risks involved, empowering them to make positive choices and educate their peers. Through interactive activities and group discussions, participants will develop critical thinking skills and a stronger sense of responsibility regarding substance use.

This initiative aims to inspire a culture of prevention and accountability, helping students navigate peer pressure and make healthier choices. With the funding from this grant, we hope to equip students with the tools they need to avoid substance abuse and protect their future.
