My Students

I teach sixth-grade English Language Arts in New Orleans, Louisiana. I help students discover their skills as critical readers of the world around them. I help them use their voices to change the narratives that have been written about them and inform their own identities.

I teach students who come from all over the city of New Orleans based on a promise to get them to and through college.

I teach predominantly students of color who receive free and reduced price lunch and travel long distances to attend our school. I believe in our national promise to educate all of America's children to the best of our abilities.

My Project

Students will use these headphones to access on-level texts on the computer. The beauty of education technology is that it allows them to interact with reading in a variety of different ways.

These headphones will help students participate in online grammar, reading, and writing activities.

They will also help them become literate technology users as they prepare to join the workforce in the twenty-first century. Some programs that we use online include EdPuzzle and Socrative. I also like to help students learn by teaching literary concepts through videos and interactive websites. Please help my students be avid consumers of both digital and print media.
