This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I teach AP Environmental science in an urban title one school. Many of my students have never visited a farm or garden, or harvested produce. They have very little real would opportunity to connect with where we get our food.
This project provides the testing equipment we need to learn about how our food is produced by setting up our own in class ecosystems called ecocolumns.
These probes will allow us to track the progress of nutrients through our ecocolumns. Through this long term project, students will see the process from seed to plate.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
