This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We love to learn about ecosystems in 5th grade. By constructing their own ecosystems, students engage in critical thinking and problem-solving as they make decisions about the components needed for their models, such as plants, animals, and environmental conditions.

Creating model ecosystems provides 5th graders with a hands-on learning experience that deepens their understanding of ecological concepts.

They share ideas and work together to solve challenges. As they observe the interactions within their models, students can better grasp the delicate balance of ecosystems, the roles of different organisms, and the impact of environmental changes.

Hence, modeling ecosystems fosters a sense of responsibility and ownership in students' learning. As they care for their ecosystems, students learn about the importance of biodiversity, resource management, and sustainability. This hands-on project allows them to connect theoretical knowledge from the classroom with real-world applications.
