My Students

When I step in front of my classroom at the beginning of the day and look at my students, I know that a great day awaits me. My students greet me with smiles, questions, and eager faces; they are ready to learn, and I am ready to teach them all that I can.

My students are incredible, curious, adept, and capable learners.

My students speak different languages (over 19 languages at our school) and all have the tremendous talent to share with each other. My students jump into their daily learning with zeal. They work together, laugh together, learn together, and share everything in their classroom community.

My Project

Amid bustling city life, it's easy to think that fruit and vegetables all come from grocery store shelves. But did you know that people are figuring out ways to grow food indoors? Hydroponic gardening is making it possible for people in small spaces like apartments, to experience the joy of growing food for themselves. Students want to learn how plants grow from seeds to seedlings, to full plants that produce food!

Students want to learn how food goes from plant to table, right from our own hydroponic class garden!

Most of my students live in apartments where gardening is not a possibility. Urban gardening can help my students learn about the wonders of plants, ecology, food cycles, and the life of a plant. Since farms are far away from our city limits, this project will help bring the whole gardening and farm experience to our classroom! With incredible books to help us, we will certainly grow!

Starting with seeds, my students will plant them in a seed sprouter. As their seedlings grow, they will prepare to plant them into a self-watering hydroponic garden using light stands to create the perfect light environment for optimal growth. Students will excitedly measure and chart their plant's progress, and get ready for the best part-harvesting and eating!

Imagine studying math facts in a classroom with a fresh cup of veggies and fruit grown right in the classroom! Or even having a class party where we take our harvested tomatoes, strawberries, lettuce, and peppers to make an amazing salad to share in class! Science can be delicious!

Help us to grow our minds and our plants with an indoor hydroponic garden for students to eat from and enjoy! Thank you for supporting our project.
