My Students

I teach 23, enthusiastic learners in an inclusive Kindergarten class! These 5 and 6 years old come to school every day ready to learn and engage with their classmates. They love to sing and dance. And they love a challenge -- I've never seen students so excited to take tests and show me what they can do! Most importantly, they are kind and supportive friends. Our favorite greeting during morning meeting is hug, handshake, or high five. During this activity, the recipient gets to choose what kind of greeting they need that day. It's fun while also building self-awareness and empathy. I love that these amazing kids understand the power of a school family.

My Project

We use technology in the classroom every day for literacy and math, for practicing skills and taking assessments. We have tablets, computers, and a listening center. Being able to effectively and easily use various types of technology is a real-world 21st century skill, which makes it an important part of my students' education. It is also a fun and engaging way to learn. Lessons and activities are colorful, interactive, and tailored to exactly what the individual student needs. All of this is why technology in the classroom is a big part of our vision of being a high-performing district full of students who love to learn, as well as our school's mission to prepare students for college and career (APS CLL Grow. Lead. Transform. Mini-Grants!). Access to advanced technological skills and a passion for learning opens up a world of choice and opportunity for these amazing young people!

By funding my project, you would provide a quality set of headphones for each student to use with our technology, allowing them to easily focus on their work without distractions.

These headphones are perfect for young ears, unlike earbuds that are sometimes painful for small ears and easily damaged or lost. The students would be able to use these headphones with all of our technology and would also practice responsibility by taking care of their own headphones. And we will be able to use them year after year, making your donation a gift that keeps on giving for hundreds of students!
