My Students

As a teacher in a Title 1 School (low-income families), the students in my class face many hardships. My students are diverse learners with different needs. My class is made up of ELL students, SETSS students, students with ADD, and students with speech disorders.

Despite the many challenges my students face, they enter my classroom every day eager to please and learn.

My goal is to offer every student an environment that will foster their academic learning, their creativity, and their emotional wellness. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. I am hopeful to inspire all my students to become lifelong learners.

My Project

READING, READING, READING. My students love to read. However, they have so many notebooks, folders, and workbooks in their desks that they don't have any room for regular old pleasure reading books. These book pockets will allow my students the luxury of sitting at their desks and knowing that when they want to start reading they can just reach around to the back of their chair and their own personal library awaits.

Donations will greatly improve the look and organization of our classroom.

We currently keep our books in zip lock bags. You can probably imagine how many of these bags we go through in a week. The students are constantly adding more and more books to these baggies and as you are aware they can only hold so much. These book pockets will not only beautify the classroom, but they will also give the students a sense of accomplishment by keeping both their desks and classroom organized
