Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a classroom that serves 10 students with a range of disabilities with both moderate and severe levels. Even though all my students have disabilities, they are first and foremost preschoolers. During our regular school sessions, my students would come to school excited to learn, explore, and play.

However, returning to in person learning after a year of being remotely will be quite a challenge for our students.

There are many new guidelines that these little ones will be required to learn and follow. Our students will have to adjust to a new classroom lay out and to having their individual station.

My classroom is a "PAL" classroom which stands for Preschool for All Learners. It's a preschool classroom that is developmentally and individually appropriate for all preschool children no matter their disability. They are a group of fabulous 3 and 4-year-olds. Everyday I am amazed and astounded by these wonderful children.

My students are preparing and getting ready for Kindergarten by learning numbers, letters, shapes, and how to stay in a designated area, more so now that they have to social distance everywhere.

Our classroom is part of a title one school that serves low income families.

My Project

These materials will make the transition of going back to in person learning more engaging and exciting for my kiddos. My students are preschool age with a wide range of abilities. Providing my students with highly motivating resources in their individual designated stations will help them on following the new classroom guidelines like staying 6ft apart from their peers.

Our classroom layout has completely changed from a year ago.

Our students will no longer be allowed to move from center to center. Most of the activities will take place at their individual station or bubble. Students need access to materials that can undergo a rigorous daily disinfecting routine.
