My Students

My students are full of excitement about second grade and being in school! They are sweet and ready to learn new things every day. Our school is fairly new. It opened seven years ago and is lacking many instructional materials and flexible seating options for students to help them integrate movement and learning together.

Our school has a moderate poverty level; about 40% of our students receive a free or reduced lunch.

My goal is to fill our classroom with as many technology opportunities and flexible seating options as possible to help our young students meet the goals of becoming 21st century learners and global competitors.

My Project

An easel will make a difference in my classroom because it will allow all students to be collaborative during learning. Students help to create our anchor charts that we use as reminders for key skills throughout the year. We hang these anchor charts in the classroom and students can refer to them throughout the school year. Anchor charts are more effective if they are made with student input, rather than just the teacher. Have an easel would make it easier for students to participate in the process of creating an anchor chart! Students love having their work displayed in the classroom.
